Hij was lid van de Nederlandse delegatie bij de onderhandelingen over het Kyoto-verdrag, waarin werd afgesproken de uitstoot van het schadelijke CO2 te beperken.

In Drachten is het eerste experiment voor CO2-opslag ( het ZEPP-1 project) afgeblazen door ENECO. Het zou té complex zijn en: opslag in Centraal Nederland (waar al afgevangen CO2 voorradig is)ligt meer voor de hand.
Cozijnsen ( advocaat van de CO2-lobby) ziet een grote burgerweerstand tegen CO2-opslag onder de woonwijk Carnisselande van Barendrecht (afkomstig van Shell-Pernis)en hij vindt bunkering in het Noorden beter. Daarna verklaarde de N.A.M. dat de kosten voor aanleg transportleidingen té hoog zijn en dat CO2 beter in West-Nederland onder de zoden kan worden geschoffeld.
Het wachten is dus op de volgende gast die orakelt dat al het elders afgevangen CO2 goed in Noord-Nederland kan worden opgeslagen.
Maar misschien hebben de Noordelingen geen zin om hun leefgebied te zien verworden tot het CO2-afvalveld van N.W.Europa.
